Childrens Hospital soon to expand at Boardman campus

The Boardman campus of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley will soon begin work on phase one of a four-phase expansion project.

Phase one of the $18.6m expansion, which will eventually increase the hospital’s size by 51,000 square feet, is set to begin in this month and finish up in April 2017. That part of the project will swell the number of hospital exam rooms by 47, including primary and sub-specialty care.

In time, the expanded area will house a number of specialties including a new sports rehabilitation service. The focus of the expansion is to bring all of Akron Children’s pediatric services together to better serve the patient. When a doctor orders an x-ray or lab work, families will not have to pack their child back in the car and drive to another location. Instead, a short walk down the hall will enable them to have whatever tests are required.

Patients may find this level of convenience a little startling at first, but it will likely increase the popularity of the Beeghly (Boardman) campus of Akron Children’s Hospital. The services of a brochure printer can be used to introduce all the new services available at the location.

The entire four phases of the project will include giving Building A a two-story addition, creating a new entrance to the campus, and renovating parts of the current building.
