Cat and dog adoptions available in Boardman area

Animal Charity of Ohio in conjunction with Animal Shelters throughout the United States, as well as in Puerto Rico, is participating in a nationwide, one-day pet adoption event dubbed ‘Clear the Shelters’.

Boardman and Canfield are each involved in the event, with Animal Charity offering cats for adoption at its Boardman location and the Canfield location making dogs available. The hoped for result is that every cat and dog find their forever home, and to increase the odds, adoption fees are being waived. Often, a flyer printing service is employed prior to these events to ensure a large turnout.

Those interested in adopting a pet can access photos and biographies of animals up for adoption, as well as download an application ahead of the event at the charity’s website. Prospective new “parents” are asked to bring along vet records for pets they currently have, as well as a bag of kitten food or a Kong toy in lieu of an adoption fee.

Dogs have received all of their shots, as have the cats after first testing negative for feline immunodeficiency virus and for feline leukemia. In addition, all of the animals have been spayed or neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and treated with a flea and tick preventative.

Clear the Shelter takes place this Saturday, August 18, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in Boardman and from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm in Canfield.
