This month, the Relay For Life of Mahoning County will be held at Boardman Park in Ohio.
Relay For Life is an event that was originated by Dr. Gordon Klatt in 1985, who walked and ran on a track in Tacoma, Washington to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Now there are similar fundraising events held throughout the world dedicated to combating cancer and honoring loved ones who have been impacted by the disease.
Companies can sponsor the event and assist in raising money for the fundraiser. There are several packages available for businesses to purchase, starting at $250 to become a Signature Sponsor. The most expensive tier is a Presenting Sponsor for $5000. The organizers for the event will use printing services to create Signs that display the logos of each sponsoring company.
Those who would like to help support the American Cancer Society can directly donate to the organization online or contribute towards increasing the total funds raised by participating teams. People can also give money to dedicate a Luminaria to be placed around the course in honor of anybody who has been affected by cancer.
The Relay For Life of Mahoning County will take place on June 15th from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. The Luminaria ceremony will be held at 9:00 pm and the closing ceremony will begin at 10:30 pm.
