The Three Sheep Gallery and Workshop in Boardman will be hosting a lesson in September for those interested in rug design.
The Rug Punch Workshop and Trunk Show is an event offering people a chance to learn about needle rug hooking from a professional. Kathy Donovan will be leading the course and will be selling punch supplies. The lesson is intended for beginners. Donovan is the founder of Checkmate Farm and organizes workshops in venues throughout the United States. She also has attended fiber festivals like the Waterford Fair.
Kathy Donovan began raising Karakul sheep in 2004 and has won awards at events like the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. Her farm was featured in the publication Living the Country Life. She is a certified instructor who introduces students to the unique wool characteristics of Karakul sheep. Donovan is also a member of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists. The workshop will occur on Friday, September 3 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. No registration is needed to attend the course or trunk show.
