Boardman celebrates 2025 anniversary day

The Boardman community is invited to celebrate the anniversary and history of the Boardman Arts Park this May.

The Boardman Arts Park started in 2017 as a way to use an unutilized green space, which has now evolved into an outdoor event venue and art exhibit designed to bring the community together.

The Boardman Celebration Day is meant to commemorate the West/Boardman Elementary School that, from 1905 to 1979, operated where the park now resides. During the event there will be a special recognition for any Boardman Elementary Alumni that attend. Third graders from Woodward Elementary School will also participate in a West/Boardman Elementary School tradition of singing and the maypole dance, a folk dance involving dancing with ribbons around a pole to create patterns. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair to relax and enjoy the celebration, there will also be snacks available for purchase.

Events designed to showcase the history of a location or building often utilize tools like poster printing to share historic information or photos. This can be especially impactful for celebrations that occur when a building has been remodeled or is no longer there, like the West/Boardman Elementary School.

The Boardman Celebration Day will take place on May 1, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Boardman Arts Park, located at 154 West William Street, Delaware. The event is free to attend, and additional information can be found on the event website.
