As part of its 10-day autumn tour, the United States Air Force (USAF) Concert Band along with the Singing Sergeants will be making a stop in nearby Youngstown.
The Concert Band and Singing Sergeants, who are based in Washington, D.C. will be performing in October starting on the 20th. A calendar with the dates and cities for this tour as well as others can be found at the USAF band’s site. The concerts are held as an exercise in community relations with many members having ties to stops on the tour, including Boardman native, MSgt Brett Miller.
For Miller, the Youngstown stop will be a chance to once again perform at Stambaugh Auditorium. While pursuing a degree in music performance at YSU’s Dana School of Music, Miller participated in many performances at the Auditorium. Alumni of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Kent State, The Ohio State University, Cleveland Institute of Music and Miami University of Ohio can be found among the membership as well.
The U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants’ Youngstown performance will take place at 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 27. It will be the tour’s last Ohio stop before moving on to Pennsylvania for its last two engagements. Residents of Youngstown may have seen Flyers advertising tickets to the concert, which is open to the public, as free. However, they should be obtained ahead of time.
