Tree lighting ushers in Christmas in Old Westbury

Residents of Old Westbury, New York, should ready themselves for the start of Christmas with the annual Tree Lighting Festival happening this weekend.

The event will ring in the season with entertainment, festivities, and, perhaps most importantly for guests, food.

Organizers will be providing guests with eating options like hotdogs, pretzels, and homemade soups. Those with a sweet tooth can sort through baked goods or get themselves some cotton candy. There will also be holiday drinks, like hot chocolate and spiced lattes.

Lost and Found, the duo that wrote the award-winning song ‘Lions’, will be performing that and other hits. Local choral groups will be on stage after that as well, setting the mood with some of the great holiday classics.

Finally, following all of the entertainment and food, the tree will be lit. This year the tree is an Oriental Spruce that is 75 feet tall and covered in about 8,000 lights.

The people marketing this event may turn to Print companies to create Postcards, Posters, or Flyers that they can use for advertising. Handing these out in high-traffic areas of nearby towns like Mineola or Hicksville could help draw in more crowds.

The Tree Lighting Festival will take place on Sunday, December 7, at the Life Lutheran Church. It begins at 3:00 pm, with the musical performances starting at 3:30 pm. The tree lighting itself will take place at 5:30 pm.
