Hicksville residents now have a chance to sample great Indian cuisine, and in particular a classic dish known as biryani, without leaving their home town.
Biryani is a spicy rice dish that is popular throughout India, and in Pakistan as well. There are a number of ways to prepare it, but most feature a base of basmati rice to which poultry, various types of meat, and/or vegetables are then added.
In Hicksville, the New Chilli & Curry Restaurant on Woodbury Road is perhaps the go-to place for this spicy dish. The restaurant offers six different versions of the dish including shrimp, goat, veggies, chicken, and lamb, but perhaps the main one to try is the ‘Chili & Curry special’, in which all the ingredients (except goat) are combined into one flavorful dish.
Other Long Island restaurants featuring this dish are Southern Spice in New Hyde Park, Kiran Palace in Commack, and Masalah Grill in Huntington Station. All of them are currently serving it for less than $15 per head.
The New Chilli's management might like to work with a local flyer printing company to create a handout for distribution near the restaurant. Often, if restaurants include a coupon, they can succeed in attracting people who would not normally visit such an eatery, thereby potentially attracting a new customer base.
