Rico Nasty, who was born Maria-Cecilia Simone Kelly, will be appearing at 24 Oxford at Virgin Hotels. A native of Maryland, singles like “Poppin” started to bring her to the attention of the public in 2018.
Rico began rapping when she was still in high school, and released “Summer’s Eve,” her first mixtape, in 2014. She began focusing on music after graduating, and released two more mixtapes in 2016 – “Sugar Trap” and “The Rico Story.” In 2017, she released “Poppin,” a single, which was viewed on YouTube more than five million times, and was also featured on “Insecure,” a series on HBO. She released “Sugar Trap 2” in 2017, and Rolling Stone called the mixtape one of 2017’s Best Rap Albums.
In 2018, she released several singles that got millions of views on TikTok and YouTube, bringing her to the attention of Atlantic Records, which signed her for her major-label debut. At just 25 years old, she has astonishing catalog for such a young artist, including over 70 singles and more than 45 music videos.
