Vegas celebrates Greek culture and food

The 44th annual Greek Food Festival is taking place for three days this month in Las Vegas. It is presented by the St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church.

As the name of the festival suggests, guests will have the opportunity to try a variety of Greek foods like gyros (seasoned sliced meat on a pita) and souvlaki (pork or chicken on a stick or in a pita). Of course, there will also be famous Greek pastries as well. Guests can also enjoy musical entertainment from performers such as The Olympians, Etho Ellas, and the Greek Folk Dance ministry.

There will be a children’s entertainment area that is set to feature rides, games and activities such as a climbing wall. Vendors will sell Greek-related merchandise, and a torch relay will take place.

One of the most popular parts of the festival will likely be the raffle. Tickets are $100 and only 1,000 will be sold. The grand prize is a new Mercedes or $25,000, but there are 10 prizes in all.

Advertising is still available for the souvenir magazine that will most likely be provided by a Las Vegas brochure printing company.

The Greek Food Festival will be held at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church from September 16 to 18. Admission is $6 per day or $10 for all three days. Call 702-221-8245 for more information.
