The Red Hot Chili Peppers first got together in 1983 in Los Angeles, with John Frusciante, Chad Smith, Flea, and Anthony Kiedis co-founding the group. Although there have been line-up changes, the group on their current World Tour is comprised of the founding members.
The Chilis are noted for combining elements of rock including psychedelic rock, hard rock, and alternative rock into a sound that has influenced genres including nu metal, rap rock, and others. Worldwide, they have sold more than 100 million records, making them one of rock’s best-selling bands ever. Their records regularly chart, they have won six Grammys, and in 2012, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This year, their star was placed in the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and they released “Unlimited Love,” their twelfth album.
