Amazon will be opening three delivery and customer fulfillment centers in the Las Vegas area this year.
Perry Williams, general manager of Amazon Fulfillment, said that since the opening of its first location in Reno, the company has been an important part of the state for the last 20 years. Williams added that there are very talented individuals in the workforce and expressed his excitement about continuing their partnership with the state.
Currently under construction is a fulfillment center in North Las Vegas that will span 855,000 square feet. Once it is completed next year, it is expected to bring 1,500 full-time positions to the area, many of whom may require business card printing. Hiring for these positions will begin once construction is almost finished.
This fulfillment center will be using Amazon’s robotics technology that assists employees with picking, packing, and then shipping smaller items, including small household goods and Books. This will be the second facility in the state which employs this technology, the other being in North Las Vegas.
Governor Steve Sisolak said that Amazon has proven to be a lifeline for those in the state who have faced employment challenges in recent months.
