National park in Las Vegas gradually reopens
Annual pass holders to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Las Vegas will now have increased access to the park’s recreational facilities. A phased approach will be used for those wanting to visit the park.
Annual pass holders will have initial access to the Entrance Stations at Lake Mead Parkway, Northshore, Boulder, Cottonwood Cove Entrance Station, and Lake Mead Boulevard. There will, however, be no transactions of credit cards or currency at these entrance stations. Then Katherine Landing, Temple Bar, and Willow Beach will be opened.
Other areas that will be opened will be picnic areas, beaches, launch ramps, and parking lots. Flyer printing can be used to help visitors to launch ramps stayed informed of their conditions. Those that are on houseboats or trailer parks will be able to stay the night and boats at the marina will be able to go out on the lake.
The opening of other facilities in the park will depend on careful examination of the functions and services provided at each facility to ensure compliance with guidelines established by public health organizations.
There may be delays in some areas as a pavement preservation project to improve roads has begun. In the southern area of the park, there is some resurfacing, patching, and cleaning of roads, in addition to remarking and resurfacing of parking lots and toads.
