The volunteers at Project 150, a nonprofit based in Las Vegas, recently spent a week preparing 2,000 holiday dinners for needy families in the area.
Each meal they prepared serves a family of four, and they plan to continue their efforts throughout the Hanukkah and Christmas seasons.
Meli Pulido, the executive director of the nonprofit, commented that these meals are prepared so that needy kids and their families know they are not being forgotten. They still have their challenges, but they are thankful that they have a meal with their families that they otherwise would not have been afforded.
Don Purdue and Patrick Spargur, two local businessmen, started Project 150 in December 2011 when they discovered that there were 150 homeless students at Rancho High School and they needed some help over the holiday break. By 2014, the number of meals it provided grew to the thousands, and now about 6,000 disadvantaged and displaced high school students are served by the organization throughout the year, with clothing, food assistance, and school supplies.
The organization is accepting monetary donations for the holiday meal program until the end of the year.
Banner printing companies can be hired to create displays through the community around them, so that people learn more about such organizations and their efforts to support those who are less fortunate than others.
