MGM Resorts, a hotel group in Las Vegas, is looking to diversify its art collection by auctioning 11 paintings it owns done by Picasso in October.
The works of the Spanish artist are currently on display at the Bellagio Hotel. The auction is considered to be the most valuable one that is dedicated to the works of Picasso and is expected to garner close to $100 million. The general public and more specifically art collectors can be notified of such auctions through flyer printing services.
Chief hospitality officer at MGM Resorts, Ari Kastrati, said that the hotel is committed to creating a more inclusive collection that enables under-represented communities to have voice while still maintaining a broad portfolio. The Resorts has said it already has a rather diverse collection but is looking to display more works from people of color, those with disabilities, and from women.
Real estate developer Steve Wynn started the collection at MGM Resorts over 20 years ago. Wynn is the former chief executive officer of Wynn Resorts and former owner of the Bellagio. The collection now has about 900 pieces by 200 artists, including pieces from David Hockney and bob Dylan, that are displayed in its hotels around the world.
MGM will be holding the auction at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas on Saturday October 23.
