Country/swamp rock in Vegas

A musician who founded a legendary group and then went on to a solo career is on the way to Las Vegas.

John Fogerty and Tom, his brother, along with Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, founded Creedence Clearwater Revival, a band that released a seemingly never-ending series of hits during its four-year run from 1968 to 1972.

John, now 77, was the group’s main songwriter, lead guitarist, and lead vocalist, and with him as frontman, put nine singles into the top 10. They also released eight albums that were certified gold during their brief career. Songs like “Green River,” “Born on the Bayou,” “Bad Moon Rising,” and “Proud Mary” are still popular on classic rock stations, and in 1993, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

After the group split in 1972, Fogerty launched a solo career and has had great success. Rolling Stone magazine put him at No. 40 on its 100 Greatest Songwriters list, and at No. 72 on its 100 Greatest Singers List.

A review notes:

“The sheer power, authenticity and grittiness of Fogerty’s songwriting, singing and underrated guitar playing can only be described as timeless.”

John Fogerty will be at the Encore Theatre at the Wynn Las Vegas for a total of six concerts between November 9 and 19. Organizers of shows can help bring in audiences by using poster printing to create eye-catching advertising.
