Cheryldine Hicks, Theresa Paterson, Anna Lissa Lopez and Erika Serviolo have been added to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital list of ‘RWJ Heroes’.
The Hamilton hospital list recognises and honours healthcare professionals who go “above and beyond for their patients and co-workers”. Nominations for the RWJ Heroes award can be made by patients and their families, co-workers, or visitors to the hospital who feel they have received extra special care and assistance from hospital employees.
Cheryldine Hicks, who works as a patient care technician, was nominated because of her exceptional patient care, whether taking care of an individual or a group of patients.
Social worker Theresa Paterson gained recognition for the way she looked after a homeless person who also had no identification. As well as helping to find out the identity of the woman, she made sure she had the correct treatment, and went as far as to provide some of her own clothing for the woman.
Anna Lissa Lopez, who is a quality data analyst, was nominated for giving her co-workers the extra assistance they needed in preparing for a recent Quality Fair, helping with Presentation Folders and compiling data.
Meanwhile, occupational therapist Erika Serviolo was rewarded for always taking the initiative when it comes to the special needs of her patients and the different requirements of each person.
The accolades at the university hospital are awarded quarterly.
