Students interested in learning about manual therapy can attend an advanced class this October offered at the John K Rafferty YMCA in Hamilton.

Mark Thompson will be teaching a course that discusses spinal and peripheral manual therapy treatments. The unique approach was originally developed in New Zealand by Brian Mulligan to address musculoskeletal disorders with repositioning techniques. The two-day course will review and improve each student’s skill level with the Mulligan approach for the whole body. Informational classes like this can use flyer printing to raise the community's interest in attending the course.

The lessons will cover multiple objectives, including how to deal with knee joint dysfunctions, tennis elbow, and persistent ankle sprain leg pain. Several demonstrations will be held throughout the class to give students a better understanding of the material. The course will also have many lectures that discuss topics like clinical problem identification and compression techniques. All participants must take a post-course test.

The advanced manual therapy class will be held on October 23 and October 24. Both lessons will begin at 8:00 am and will end at 4:00 pm. Ticket prices for the class can be purchased for $499. All students who participate in the course must wear loose, comfortable lab clothes while in class. Attendees should also bring mobilization belts and pads to the lesson if available.
