The New Jersey Storytelling Network (NJSN) will organize a community festival at the Hamilton Township Public Library in November.
The Storytelling Festival is a program where people can hear from talented storytellers, participate in a competition, and attend educational workshops. The two seminars at the event will include a storytelling lesson for children and a course on sharing memoirs for adults. People can take part in the fest’s Story Slam, a judged storytelling contest where competitors tell five-minute stories without using props or notes. The stories must be true and fit in the festival’s Count Your Blessings theme.
The NJSN is an organization that was created in 2002 to encourage and promote storytelling throughout the state. The nonprofit wishes to preserve the oral tradition and make storytelling events more available to the public. There are many storytellers who are part of the organization, including Sarah Brady, Ken Karnas, and Joey Novick. The group also organizes workshops such as Motif and Type Indexes: Tale Finders with Margaret Read MacDonald.
The festival will be on November 9th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. There is no cost to attend the Storytelling Festival, and all ages may attend the program. Presentations from local storytellers will start at noon. Libraries that host similar fests to this can use poster printing services to create advertisements for their upcoming programs.
