The designation of ‘Playful City USA’ was recently granted to Hamilton by the Playful City USA program, which is designed to raise awareness of how important it is to get and keep children active and offer them safe places outdoors in which they can do so.
This is the second year in a row that Hamilton has won this distinction, making it the only one in New Jersey. Hamilton Mayor Kelly Yaede commented that being the only town in the state to receive this accolade is “an honor”, and recognizes how committed the town is to those who will create its future, as well as to creating recreational areas where they can play and be physically active.
The program, which is sponsored by the Humana Foundation along with KaBoom!, focuses on towns in which there is strong support of playtime by the local government. It uses input from numerous sources, including civic groups, non-profits, and local businesses, to determine where the play spaces will be.
With the designation comes the ability for the town to apply for grants and opportunities to build playgrounds from KaBoom!, a national nonprofit organization that works to bring balanced and active play into the daily lives of all children.
The town is most likely turning to banner printing and other printing services to inform the community of this recognition and what it means to the town.
