Hamilton museum to honor talented sculptor

A special event will be held this summer in Hamilton to pay tribute to the sculptor Seward Johnson.

Remembering Seward Johnson is a program where the community can honor Johnson and his impact on the world of sculpture. There will be several event activities, including a drum circle, sing-along session, self-guided tours, and atelier demos. Guests can also meet artists from the museum’s collection and staff members of the Seward Johnson Atelier during the event. Organizations hosting special programs like this can use poster printing to increase awareness for the occasion.

Johnson, a painter and sculptor, exhibited pieces at notable sites such as the Knoxville Museum of Art and RW Norton Art Museum. His most recognizable works include The Awakening and Embracing Peace. He was also the founder of Grounds for Sculpture and The Johnson Atelier. In 2014, Johnson was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame. His exhibitions can be found in Plant City, Beverly Hills, and Napa.

Remembering Seward Johnson will take place on June 5th and 6th at Hamilton’s Grounds for Sculpture. It will be held from 8:00am to 3:00pm on both days. Registration for the program will open for members of the Grounds for Sculpture on May 3rd, and general admission will begin on May 17th. The full event schedule will be unveiled in May.
