Hamilton and West Windsor will be the second and third locations in New Jersey for the Steak 'n Shake fast food restaurants in the first half of the year. The first one in the state opened in 2012 in the Paramus Park mall.
Asim Chaudhry, who owns the restaurant, and Zabair Chaudhry, his father, plan to open the one in West Windsor in March and the one in Hamilton by July. They have plans to open another 15 stores within the next two years in the state.
Steak 'n Shake has close to 500 locations mostly in the South and the Midwest. It is known for putting steak meat inside hamburgers and for its milkshakes. As a walk-in fast food eatery, people will place their order and pick it up at the counter. There will be space for between 30 to 70 people so customers can also eat in if they choose.
Chaudhry and his father have had experience with other fast food restaurants but wanted to try something new and different. They liked the menu of Steak 'n Shake and offered the best opportunities for growth and expansion.
The Chaudhrys may be looking to banner printing companies to place an announcement of the new restaurants at each location, meaning people driving by will know what to expect and perhaps try it out.
