Gas station to replace vacant car lot in Hamilton

A redevelopment plan that will construct a new Wawa gas station was recently approved by the Hamilton council.

The gas station will be located in an old car dealership lot on Route 33, which has been vacant since the mid-2000s.

The Wawa store will serve coffee and have a gas station with pumps. The developer for the store is Delco Development.

Discussions about the project began as early as April 2013, when the town council voted to eliminate an ordinance that prevented new gas stations from opening within 1,500 feet of existing ones. One year later, Delco presented plans to the zoning board for the lot and the project was approved. In May 2015, a judge for the town ruled in favor of the zoning board.

At the recent council meeting, once final details from planners and officials from Delco Development were heard, all members of the council spoke positively about the project. President of the Council, Dennis Pone, said it was one of the better plans that had been presented, while Councilman David Kenny said it was an improvement of what is now there. Councilman Ed Gore said a vacant lot would be eliminated.

Delco Development may now turn to banner printing companies to create Banners that can be displayed in the lot informing residents of the new Wawa that is to be constructed in the lot.
