An impressive groundbreaking for an apartment complex, The Marcum, was recently held in downtown Hamilton.
Unlike the usual multiple shovels wielded by officials, this groundbreaking featured a big front-end loader. About 100 people gathered to watch the machine tackle a few yards of soil and to listen to Mayor Pat Moeller, several local officials, the developer, and U.S. Rep. Warren Davidson say a few words.
Tom Vanderhorst, Hamilton Finance Director, got the ball rolling on the project about a year ago. He placed a call to CMC Properties of Blue Ash’s Jim Cohen, whom he knew from his time working in Loveland. CMC had developed a project in that city’s downtown area, which Vanderhorst felt would work well for Hamilton as well.
The Marcum’s 100 luxury apartments, as well as retail space at the street-level, is just starting to become a reality, but the nearby recently developed Marcum Park will have its grand opening this Saturday, May 6. When the time comes for a brochure printing to promote the retail space and apartments, no doubt the park will warrant a mention.
The completion of The Marcum complex will make this an appealing location in which to live, but it has already been an popular location for recreation. Hamilton residents have enjoyed outdoor summer concerts at the present RiversEdge amphitheater in Marcum Park and will have a new RiversEdge amphitheater to appreciate just across the road from the newly developed park.
