Families investigate all the small things
Charlotte residents can examine teeny tiny objects at a local science museum.
A special ‘Horton Hears a Who’ event is coming to Discovery Place.
Designed for families with preschoolers to second graders, this special workshop features a storytime and hands-on nanotechnology activities. Guests will be treated to a reading of Dr. Seuss’ children’s book ‘Horton Hears a Who’. Then, they can use microscopes or magnifying glasses to look at objects. In addition, kids can shrink an item until it becomes tiny.
The workshop costs $12 for an adult-child pair and $5 for each additional participant. Tickets can be purchased on the event’s website or by calling 704-372-6261, extension 300. Individuals also need to purchase admission tickets to the museum, which are $15 for adults and $12 for kids and seniors.
Discovery Place has a variety of exhibits, including ‘Fantastic Frogs’ and ‘World Alive’. It also has a kids' lab and interactive areas at which kids can take part in experiments and building activities.
It’s likely brochure printers were used to make tri-fold handouts to have available at the workshop. The brochure could showcase all the events and exhibits the science center has to offer.
It all takes place on February 14 from 10:30 am until noon in the group lunchroom on level three of the museum. Discovery Place can be found on 301 North Tryon Street.
