Charlottes chili chefs invited to strut their stuff
The hunt is on for Charlotte’s best chili, and the winner of the friendly competition will be crowned as the reigning chili champ.
This year’s chili cook off is open to anyone who wants to put their culinary talents to the test. The entries will be judged in several categories, including Tongue Burner, Most Creative, Best Overall, and there will even be a special grouping of vegetarian recipes.
The rules for the contest call for each team to supply three gallons of chili, and they are also asked to ensure they have a warmer that will keep its temperature at least 140 degrees throughout the event. It has also been requested that they bring along a ladle to serve up their creation and stay for the whole day.
Each individual or group that enters a chili will be provided with bowls and spoons so they can serve up their offering, and they will also have access to a power outlet. Local stationery printers can provide customized award certificates and other prizes that can be distributed to the winners.
Members of the public are welcome to join in the fun of the occasion by enjoying unlimited samples of the different chilies on offer. There will also be vendor booths to browse through, and a raffle.
