What's Happening in Charlotte, NC…

Charlotte to have a fairy good time

This month, Charlotte residents who are interested in whimsical activities can head over to the Discovery Nature Museum for a ‘Fairy Festival’.

This springtime event will feature home construction for fairies and hobbits, and there will also be a story time event, crafts, and puppet shows.

As the museum has a special pavilion featuring roaming butterflies and a chrysalis house, the festival will see a butterfly ‘release’ take place.

General admission for the museum is $8 and children under two are free. With proper identification, military members will receive a $2 discount. Tickets can be purchased in person or online, and there are also family, individual, and educator membership options. All of the ‘Fairy Festival’ activities are included with admission or membership.

The Discovery Nature Museum has many educational exhibits, such as the ‘Beginnings’ display where life cycles can be explored. Additionally, the on-site 'Fort Wild' facility provides children with a natural setting in which to play and imagine. Various shows, animal encounters, and a nature trail are some of the other attractions the museum has to offer.

Field trips, workshops, and summer camps are also available.

No doubt the museum has used local services for banner printing, as banners could be displayed outside of the museum and in various high-traffic areas around Charlotte.

The museum is located on 1658 Sterling Road. The festivities will begin on May 17th from 10:00am until 1:00pm.
