Charlotte symposium to make going to the vet a positive experience

Going to the doctor can be stressful for pets and owners alike, and a daylong symposium is on the way for Charlotte’s veterinary professionals that will seek to make it easier for all those involved.

The goal of the event is to equip those who take part with tools they can use to create a fear-free practice. Attendees will be equipped with knowledge and tools they can utilize to reduce stress, fear, and anxiety in the animals they treat, as well as their owners, and ensure that a trip to the vet will be a positive experience for all. It will be facilitated by Dr. Marty Becker, who has many years of experience in the field.

The symposium will address a variety of topics ranging from how using touch can help to calm a dog or cat to how having pets that feel relaxed during their care can be perceived positively by the owners, which can help to ensure the longevity of a practice. The registration fee starts at $119, and each person who registers will receive admission to all the presentations, as well as a question and answer session, access to the sponsors’ tables, coffee and other refreshments, lunch, and a certificate of completion, as well as discounted rates for the Fear Free certification program. They will also be given a Fear Free gift. Branded Promotional Products and other swag for this type of event can be sourced from an area printer.

The symposium will take place on December 17 in the Sheraton Charlotte Airport Hotel. More information can be found on the Fear Free Pets website.
