What's Happening in Charlotte, NC…

Charlotte kids to explore magic of mushrooms

Mushrooms and other fungi play an important role in their ecosystems, and Charlotte kids are invited to unlock their secrets for themselves.

An activity that will include both indoor and outdoor learning will give little ones a sneak peek into the world of mushrooms and toadstools, and it’s intended for those between the ages of 4 to 10, along with their parents or caregiver. Advanced sign up is required to help the planners prepare for the occasion, and social distancing procedures will be followed.

The session will kick off with a reading of “ The Mushroom Fan Club'', which was authored by Elsie Gravel. After this, the group will take to the woods to make their own discoveries. They will find out why fungi are so important, as well as how they grow and which species can be found around Charlotte. Tickets for the occasion can be reserved now, and they are priced at $5.00.

An activity like this often sparks a lifelong interest in nature. Offering each child a packet that’s filled with fun learning materials prepared by a brochure printing company is one option for an organization that would like to encourage them to keep on making their own discoveries.

This introduction to the magic of mushrooms will welcome budding naturalists on March 28th. The Quest at Latta Nature Preserve will be hosting the function.
