Charlotte activity to support its avian set
Charlotte’s Wing Haven Garden and Bird Sanctuary will soon be doing a good turn for its fine feathered friends, and it has invited the public to get involved as well.
The community is asked to register for the Great Backyard Bird Count, which is on the agenda for February. It will give the public an easy way to become citizen scientists, and everyone, whatever their age, experience level, or ability will be able to participate.
The project will be undertaken as part of a larger effort by the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and all the people have to do to take apart is to register and then choose a spot where they will make their observations. There will be staff and volunteers on hand at Wing Haven to help, and the data collected will be recorded and used by scientists to monitor the health of avian populations.
To thank the public for their support of the activity, a light breakfast will be provided to the attendees. A brochure printing company can prepare everything from species records and tally sheets, to birding journals and basic field guides to use during an outdoor birding activity.
This chance to lend a helping hand to Charlotte’s avian set is scheduled to be held on February 18 and 21. There is no charge to take part.
