Adults to get schooled in science

Charlotte locals can celebrate the back-to-school season at a science event for adults only.

Discovery Place Museum is hosting 'Science on the Rocks: Back to School'. Attendees can experience picture day, a spelling bee, crafts, chemistry, and other science-related activities.

Guests will be able to purchase beer, wine, and food from the community cafe. Several cash bars will also be available.

To help support a good cause, the event will be collecting school supplies for Classroom Central, an organization that provides school materials for disadvantaged kids in the local area. Attendees that give new school supplies from the organization's list will get a slap bracelet.

Advance online tickets cost $8 until August 21 at 3:00 pm. For $10, tickets will also be available at the door on event day. Guests must have a photo ID to enter. For an additional $5, guests can check out the Great White Shark movie.

Since the museum hosts a variety of programs, it is bound to have asked brochure printers to create some informational pamphlets to have on hand at the event.

Discovery Place Museum is located on 301 North Tryon Street. For an additional fee, parking is available at the museum's parking deck.
