Charlotte families can embrace culture at a fun-filled event taking place near the end of the month.
International House is hosting a ‘Children’s World of Play’ where attendees can learn about the ‘universal language’ of play. During the event, kids can engage in sports and games that are played all over the world. Young attendees can also complete crafts and other activities that have international origins.
International House is a nonprofit organization that aims to advocate for cultural understanding and to help immigrants. Language and citizenship classes, along with legal services, are some of the programs the organization offers.
The free event will have live music and dancing performances from different cultures. In addition, kids can take part in a scavenger hunt, play with international toys, and learn how to write their names in Chinese characters. Storytelling and hula hooping will also be on the agenda. Attendees can take in a dragon performance and a puppet parade too.
When families get hungry, they can enjoy international cuisine from the 7th Street Market, an establishment that supports local and regional farmers.
To promote the event, no doubt a flyer printing service was utilized to create informational handouts. Volunteers are needed to help welcome attendees, assist performers, and help with games and crafts. ‘Floating’ helpers are also needed.
The fun takes place on March 28 from noon until 4:00 pm at ImaginOn, located on 300 East 7th Street.
