Charlotte residents invited to swashbuckling performance

The Northwest School of the Arts and Halton Theatre have teamed up to bring to the Charlotte stage a production of one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s best known comedic operettas.

The school will be presenting ‘The Pirates of Penzance’. This tells the story, through acting and song, of a young man who, after being released from his apprenticeship after his 21st birthday, meets and falls in love with Major-General Stanley’s daughter. Only then does he find out that, due to the unusual technicality of being born on a leap year, he will have to wait 63 years longer to marry his love. She consoles him by saying she will wait.

The operetta includes the well known song ‘I am the Very Model of a Modern Major General’, as well as other pieces that have become well-known. Booklet printing services can be used to create and Print programs for this and other plays as well.

The performances will take place at the Halton Theater, which is located at 1206 Elizabeth Avenue. Tickets prices are $20 for box seating and $15 for orchestra or balcony. The dates for the show are March 11 and 12, starting at 7:00 pm and running until 9:00 pm, with a matinee on the second day that starts at 2:30 pm. More information and the option to purchase tickets is available on the CPCC TIX website.
