Charlotte races for a treat

After running or walking in a race, Charlotte residents can indulge in some ice cream and cool off at the end of August.

The ‘Sundae 5K Run’ invites individuals to work up an appetite and enjoy summer. After the run, participants can take their souvenir sundae bowls and fill them to the brim with ice cream and toppings. There will also be some fun summer-themed games to play.

The 5K costs $25 to register now or $30 on race day. The fun run costs $12, and then $15 on race day. Registrants have their choice of swag Bags filled with a T-shirt and other items with the Sundae 5K run.

The day before the race, participants can pick up their packets from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the Charlotte Running Company. This business is located at Suite 300 on 5355 Ballantyne Commons Parkway. Packets can be picked up on the day of the race as well.

‘Start 2 Finish Charlotte’ is managing the race, and has likely used a flyer printing service to make handouts to publicize it.

It all takes place on August 30. Registration is from 7:30 am until 8:45 am for those enrolling on the day, and the race starts at 9:00 am while the fun run begins at 9:45 am. Finally, awards will be distributed at 10:00 am. For more information, call (704) 893-3800.

The event is located at Carmel Middle School on 5001 Camilla Drive.
