Charlotte recently saw the running of the 11th annual Thunder Road Marathon in support of local charities.
The different events, which saw nearly 6,000 runners take part, included full and half marathons, as well as a marathon relay, kids’ events, a 5km walk or run, and a race for those who use a wheelchair. It is considered by many to be one of the top races of its kind to take place in the area, and is a qualifier for those who wish to take part in the Boston marathon.
The overall winner of the full marathon was Masashi Shirotake, who completed the course in 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 57 seconds. The female runner with the fastest time was Lucy Rodgers, who came in with a time of 3 hours, 10 minutes, and 11 seconds.
Shirotake explained that one of the parts of the day he enjoyed the most was having a chance to spend time with his friends from the local running community. A Print company can help to make the day even more of a success by producing such items as printed race bibs, signage, Banners, and registration Forms.
According to Time Warner Cable News, the participants they spoke with noted that they took part for a variety of reasons, ranging from a spirit of competition, to wanting to get into shape, challenge themselves, or just enjoy a fun time with their friends while supporting a good cause.
