Charlotte group planning empowerment luncheon for young women

This winter, girls from across Charlotte are welcome to come to an event that will address issues related to mental illness, low self-esteem and other topics that can affect young women.

The Sipping Tea Luncheon, which will be hosted by Girls to Women, Inc., will be the first event of its kind that the group has organized. While the guests enjoy the meal, there will be a discussion of depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem, all with a goal of empowering the youth who take part while removing some of the stigma that surrounds illnesses of the mind. There will also be time built in to the agenda for the attendees to socialize and get to know one another.

Along with the presentations, there will be time in the schedule to honor women and girls form the local area who are living with mental illness. The theme for the function will be “denim and pearls”, and each ticket holder will receive admission to the luncheon as well as a pair of pearls and a custom designed T-shirt. Items like this can be crafted by a local printer using graphic design techniques.

This awareness raising afternoon has been set for January 6, 2018 in the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Charlotte Matthews, and the price per ticket will be $50 each. Additional information can be found on its event listing.
