Building a birdhouse is one way Charlotte residents can do a good turn for their feathered friends, and a friendly competition will soon be putting their design skills to the test.
Wing Haven has made plans to hold a Birdhouse Building Contest, and the public will be able to vote for their top pick from the assorted submissions. This activity is meant to draw attention to the importance of providing birds with suitable nesting sites, and people of all ages are encouraged to build and submit their own avian dwelling.
The birdhouses will be on display for visitors to WIng Haven, and while they are browsing, they will be offered a chance to ask the bird enthusiasts who will be on site for the occasion any questions they might have. They can find out how they can offer nesting spaces in their own yard, and before they go, they will be asked to vote for their favorite birdhouse from the submissions on display.
The entry fee of $10 will be used to support various Wing Haven programs. A trophy or other Corporate Gifts can be prepared to give to the winning design in an event like this.
The final date to enter the contest is March 29, and the Judging will take place on April 2 and 3. The winning design will be announced on May 3.
