Charlotte area celebration to recreate a Victorian lawn party

A Charlotte area attraction will be taking a step back in time this spring, and those who come out will be able to get a taste of life in the Victorian era.

Matthew’s Reid House will be hosting a Victorian Lawn Party, and it will feature an assortment of activities that date from the time when the community was just 25 years old. There will be exhibits, games and other fun for all ages, and there will also be several vintage cars on site for the public to view.

The attendees at the function will be able to see craftspeople using period techniques to create baskets, barrels and tatted linens. The younger guests will be able to try their hand at making a craft to take home with them as a souvenir of the day, and a cake walk and Maypole dance are also scheduled for the afternoon.

Along with the special activities that will be on offer for the day, visitors will be able to tour Reid House, which was built just before the turn of the century. Print shops can work with the organizers of an event like this to produce promotional materials that will have the look and feel of Flyers and other items that would have been in use at the time being recreated.

The Victorian Lawn Party has been scheduled for April 14th. More information for anyone who is interested can be found on the Charlotte’s Got A Lot website.
