When historical buildings and businesses are refurbished and brought back to life, local printing companies may be called upon to provide a number of printing services, such as banner printing for grand openings, flyer and poster printing for advertisement, and even business card printing as the new business gets back up on its feet.
The historic Carolina Theatre was constructed in 1927 and served as a silent film theater, as well as a performing arts area. Such famous individuals as Bob Hope and Elvis Presley performed there. Bob Drayton, property manager of the theater, said the theater was the first air-conditioned building in the area. He described the historic theater as having ornate architecture, stunning crystal chandeliers, and murals on the walls.
Graffiti dating back to the 1940s can also be found on the walls of the old theater. Drayton stated:
"I was just exploring and walking around and saw these dates, and I thought it's great that it's been here all these years. That people left their mark."
The Economic Development Committee is currently still reviewing the two proposals and may have an answer later in November.
