St. Louis dog lovers get ready for annual event
The Best Friends Animal Society is encouraging people to walk their dogs to raise funds.
The St. Louis organization is hosting ‘Strut Your Mutt’, which comprises a fun run, festival, and fundraising dog walking event. There will be lots of family-friendly things to do, along with contests, refreshments, and photo opportunities at the Tilles Park event.
Strut Your Mutt has been held since 1996, and is a vital source of operating funds for many local shelters and animal rescue groups. For some, this single celebration provides most of the funds for their operation for the entire year.
Best Friends Animal Society is the only national organization for the welfare of animals that is also dedicated to ending the destruction of cats and dogs in shelters throughout the United States. In 1984, when Best Friends was founded, 17 million shelter animals were killed simply because they were homeless. Today, the figure is down to about 4 million, but the organization is still seeking to reduce the figure.
St. Louis residents are invited to come to the Strut Your Mutt event on September 27, starting at 8:00 am and ending at 1:00 pm. Participants can register in advance at the events website. Organizers could work with a banner printing company to create an outdoor banner to decorate the event.
