Pancake house opening downtown location
One of St. Louis's most popular pancake restaurants is setting up a second location downtown, according to a recent report in the Riverfront Times.
Chris' Pancake & Dining, which has been operating since 1987 at the corner of Watson Road and Southwest Avenue, has received a number of awards, including Best Breakfast, from the paper. The second spot will be located on the campus of the Saint Louis University School of Law, taking over the space formerly housing The Docket. That explains the name of the new spot: Chris @ the Docket.
The new location will serve items familiar to diners from its current breakfast and lunch menus, and is adding pizza to the mix. Chris Saracino, who owns the restaurants, reveals that serving pizza is not that odd, since the family also owns three Italian restaurants. Saracino says the location will allow him to reach customers downtown, and expand the menu, since there is a pizza oven already on site.
Chris @ the Docket should be open in late September, after renovations are finished. The restaurant is open to the public, from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm daily, with “grab and go” options available until 6:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. Chef Tim Jansen is coming from the Marriott St. Louis Grand Hotel to manage the restaurant.
