Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter coming to St. Louis
An artist whose songs have gained him a cult following is on the way to St. Louis.
Robyn Hitchcock was born in London, and is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter. In addition, he also plays bass guitar, piano, and harmonica. He came to prominence late in the 1970s with a group called The Soft Boys, and went on to a solo career after that, citing John Lennon, Roger McGuinn, and Bob Dylan among those who have influenced him.
Not fitting neatly into any specific genre, Hitchcock has a strong “cult” following who love his songs, perhaps drawn by his lyrics, which are often surreal, sometimes comedic, and may include descriptions of eccentric English men and women, or everyday life, which he describes in melancholy terms.
Reviews of his performances tend to be raves. One concertgoer said:
