Color Run on the way to St. Louis

The Color Run—a 5K that ends with people being pelted with brightly colored powders—is coming to the area later this month.

St. Louis is only one stop on the run's 2016 world tour. These runs began in 2012, and have grown into a global phenomenon. They are fundraisers for charities chosen by the communities that hold the run, and in St. Louis, the money raised will go to Autism Speaks. The theme of this run is ‘The Color Run Tropicolor™.’

The Tropicolor run will add to the usual Color Run experience by featuring not only the colored powders, but also the music and the scents of tropical islands for runners to enjoy as they pass through arches, and among palm trees.

The event ends at the ‘Finish Festival’, where participants will enjoy themselves at Rainbow Beach. Runners attending will have music to dance to, lots of colors to throw at each other, and opportunities to take photos. Participants will also be given a limited edition kit, containing powder, a headband, and a t-shirt, to celebrate their participation.

The St. Louis Color Run is slated for April 16, and starts at 8:00 am at Poelker/Kaufmann Park in the city's downtown. The entry fee is $39.99, which will go to Autism Speaks.

Organizers could create banners filled with colors to mark the starting line of the run.
