A vintage train is preparing for another adventure in Coldwater this autumn, giving passengers a ride into the past along the area’s Old Road.
The Hillsdale Flyer, a diesel-powered train engine, is preparing to take train lovers and families in Coldwater on a journey similar to those of passengers in the 1930s and 1940s for a holiday experience, with the route running from Coldwater to Hillsdale. The ride will give passengers a firsthand idea of what it was like riding the first continuous section of railroad connecting the East Coast with Chicago.
Attendees can anticipate views of the foliage-strewn forest from the passenger cars as the route winds through southern Michigan. The route will also showcase some of the state’s agricultural and industrial developments. Organizers can use printing services to create promotional materials that recreate a vintage appearance and feel for events like this.
The passenger cars will be the same as those used nearly 90 years ago, and the journey is expected to take around four hours as a round trip. Light concessions will be available for purchase while aboard the train. Storage and seating are limited on the train.
The Hillsdale Flyer will depart from the Coldwater train station on West Park Avenue at 10:00 am on Sunday, November 8. Reservations are open online, with adult’s tickets costing $45, children’s costing $35, and infants riding for free.
