TEDCO has given six grants worth roughly $75,000 each, $457,145 in total, in conjunction with its two-year program with Joint Technology Transfer Initiative. The select businesses are to design technology that meets the needs of the Army Medical Research and Material Command and the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate.
Altogether, 11 small companies will receive $825,000 from the federal government. Maryland’s elite six are as follows:
- TRX Systems of Greenbelt - created a technique to trace employees who are working in a region without GPS
- Smart Imaging Systems of Beltsville – currently crafting a tiny X-ray machine attached to a robot which can examine and scan distrustful objects
- ES&T of Boonsboro – making improvements to a system to deactivate blasting caps and volatile contraptions
- GenArraytion of Rockville – advancing a way to detect staph infections in a shorter period of time
- QuickSilver Analytics of Abingdon – striving to market a kit by the Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense to assemble and test urine samples using dried urine taken from the ground
- BioFactura of Rockville – working on a cure for the fatal Ebola disease
This endowment came into operation through communication and cooperation between small Maryland businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and the government.
A great deal of research and catalog printing were involved in the process of grant-writing. These Print companies will also be needed to publish the instruction manuals for the new technology.Get a Free Quote for Print
