The Meeting the Information Requirements of the Animal Welfare Act workshop is set to occur in Beltsville next month as an online event.
Hosted by the Animal Welfare Information Center (AWIC), the workshop is intended for professionals involved with animal-related programs, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUC) members, veterinarians, and principal investigators. Since 1986, AWIC provides resources, services, and educational events to promote and inform individuals and organizations of the humane practices and treatment relating to the care of animals.
This free 2021 workshop provides registrants with an up-to-date, in-depth look at working with and managing animals in ways that cause them as little stress and pain as possible. Objectives include a summary of the Animal Welfare Act (AWA), a detailed explanation of the various animal welfare organizations including AWIC, how to search related online databases, and a review of potential alternative solutions.
Those who want to attend the virtual event have the option of free, online registration, or a printable form that can be filled out and either faxed or mailed traditionally to the Beltsville AWIC. Registrants of online workshops who prefer to mail physical Forms often go to a community Print shop to produce printed copies of digital Forms.
The online animal welfare workshop is scheduled to stream from the National Agricultural Library (NAL) between 7:00 am and 12:30 pm on Thursday, March 25.
