Beltsville organization among those currently fundraising

A fundraising effort is underway that has drawn over 750 participants who want to help their communities. One such organization is in Beltsville.

The Gannett Foundation is now inviting Maryland non-profits to become part of its fundraising efforts. The organizations have been given one month to use the platform Mightycause to raise funds, which must add up to a minimum of either $3,000 or $6,000. The required amount depends upon the organization’s budget, and must be reached if the non-profit is to quality for a grant.

Donors who wish to support organizations of their choice will be able to use Mightycause to help their favorite organization. Among those on the list are organizations that want to improve programs in musical training, increase no-kill shelters, and increase safe spaces for young cancer patients.

In Beltsville, the organization taking part is the African American Diabetes Association (AADA) in Beltsville. Studies have found that black adults are almost twice as likely to develop diabetes as other groups. The AADA educates member of the public, and African Americans in particular, about the disease. It also works with those who have or may develop diabetes to manage and prevent the condition.

The organizations may keep the funds they raise, but may also qualify for additional grants to support important ideas. Those who raise the most will receive $200,000 in total in grant money. The effort ends August 12. Online appeals like this benefit when logo design is used to create an attractive and exciting portal.
