The 11th annual Platzkonzer Germanfest is taking place in Hoffman Estates for two days next month.
It is a celebration of German culture, food, and beer. Guests will enjoy a variety of traditional foods and a beer garden with only authentic German beers. Live entertainment will be provided by groups such as the Johnny Wagner Band, The International Band, and the Centerfold Band. There will also be library and genealogy information booths.
There is set to be a children’s play area with activities like face painting and a fire truck to climb on. The guys can compete in the Mr. Lederhosen Best Legs contest, and everyone can try the wiener-eating and stein-carrying competitions.
The only full day of the festival will feature a 5K walk/run. The theme is “superheroes” and participants are encouraged to wear a costume or T-shirt following the theme. Fees are $35 for runners and $20 for walkers. After the race, the mayor will talk and awards will be handed out.
Some of the exhibitors, such as the Hoffman Estates Public Library, may invest in Promotional Products such as custom Pens to give away to those who stop by their booths.
The Platzkonzert Germanfest will be held at Virginia Mary Hayter Village Green from September 9 to 10. The 5K will begin at 9:00 AM on September 10. For the latest information, contact the Village of Hoffman Estates at 847-882-9100.
