The Tunnel to Towers 5k Run and Walk is set to return once again, and the public has been asked to join in to show respect and honor both the area's first responders and military personnel.
Named in honor of 9/11 firefighter Stephen Siller, it is open to all, and will be the only event of its kind held in the state this year.
Hoffman Estates’ runners, walkers and those who roll along using an assistive device like a wheelchair are welcome to hit the pavement for this event, and they will each receive a numbered race bib to wear during the activity. The registrants are encouraged to actively fundraise, and those who meet certain goals will be given mementos that have been printed with the organizer’s Logo Design to thank them for their support.
The first responders and military personnel who participate in the race are encouraged to wear their turnout gear and rucksacks, while the general public are asked to wear Apparel with a patriotic design and flags are welcome. The race will start at 8:00 am, and the fastest runners will be placed at the front of the group.
Lake Zurich will be the location for this year’s Illinois Tunnel to Towers Run and Walk, and it has been planned for the morning of June 9, and will be organized in Henry J. Paulis Park.
