Picnic permits to go on sale for 2020

Residents from Hoffman Estates who wish to hold picnics or other special events in Cook County’s forest preserves will have to get a permit in advance.

Sales for in-person permits and online permits to be used in 2020 will begin this Friday, November 15. Likely to be produced by stationery printers, in-person permits can be bought from the Forest Preserves of Cook County General Headquarters or from the Dan Ryan Visitor Center between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.

Online permits can be bought 24/7. People are encouraged to use online sales because they can use the website to save time, find out about when the sites will be available, and inquire about any other fees that may be applicable. Permits can be bought online.

Groups of 25 people or more will have to get a picnic permit.

A valid state or federal issued identification card must be presented by those who wish to buy a permit in-person. Payments can be made via Visa, MasterCard, cash, or check. When arriving to apply in-person, people are advised to fill in the application form as soon as they arrive in order to make the process faster. They should also have one or two other sites in mind in case their preferred spots are already booked.

Patrons must set up an account online, whether they wish to get a permit online or in-person.
